This song was written about my Manchester upbringing — the house on Pearl and Chestnut streets where I grew up, the beautiful red mills flanking the Merrimack, Friday night football, Elm Street parades and fireworks from the Notre Dame bridge. Mostly, though, it’s about the intrepid people who came to Manchester from Québec to start a new life in a new and unfamiliar country.
